Multiple Stories of Partnership

The Office of School Partnerships is proud to host an annual gathering that brings together faculty and staff from all IU campuses with PK-12 school leaders and education partners. Together we explore community-oriented, responsive partnerships and discuss the current landscape of PK-12 education in Indiana.

The focus of the Summit is on expanding partnerships that benefit all parties and increase student access to college-going pathways. Speakers from the PK-12 schools, Indiana University, and other educational community members will present their insights on policy implications, partnership practices, innovative strategies, and models of successful engagement. The event offers a unique opportunity for attendees to network, forge new connections, and share valuable experiences and ideas with their peers and colleagues.

The summit is free and open to anyone who is passionate about the PK-12 education ecosystem. Breakfast and lunch will be served.

Purpose

  1. Support and connect IU faculty and PK-12 partners to amplify and expand partnership practices that are community-centered, mutually beneficial, and sustainable.
  2. Center the lived experiences of partnerships from the perspective of PK-12 partners and IU faculty and staff.
  3. Illustrate how IU can support PK-12 partners to navigate current changes in state legislation. 
  4. Foster new possibilities and networking for PK-12-university partnerships.

  • PK-12 educators with existing IU partnerships or who want to be in partnership.
  • IU faculty and staff interested in or currently engaging with PK-12 partnerships. 
  • Higher education and state education leaders.

Join members of the New Neighbors Education Center (NNEC) and the IU Southeast School of Education from New Albany, Indiana, in a discussion about partnering with school districts, parents/guardians, community organizations, businesses, and state entities to respond to educational needs of culturally and linguistically diverse students. Listen to stories about the wide variety of services the NNEC provides and how they tailor their support alongside their various community members.

Community Education Coalition and IU Columbus

Join members of the Community Education Coalition (CEC) from Columbus, Indiana, in a discussion about a 25-year partnership of education, business, and community leaders. The CEC uses its stakeholder engagement process to co-create collaborative strategies designed to increase educational attainment connected to the regional economy with a focus on equity. Explore this collaborative approach and learn about the value of a neutral intermediary, the importance of building trusting relationships, and the CEC’s approach to working together to rewire education and community systems to increase academic outcomes and ensure all learners have what they need to be successful.

Learn about the iEngage Youth Civic Empowerment camp as one example of the collaborative projects and educational opportunities that the Community Education Coalition supports. iEngage brings together community organizations and leaders in the CEC, which is on the IU Columbus campus, to learn empowering civic engagement strategies.

Join the members of the Center for Educational Partnerships (CEP) from Kokomo, Indiana in a discussion about the collaboration among the IUK School of Education and their 38 partner districts representing approximately 162 partner school buildings. Learn about the mechanisms that CEP and their educational partners have co-designed to foster dialogue, feedback, and support for teacher preparation priorities and school employment needs. 

Programs such as Tomorrow’s Teachers, the Residency Program, Paraprofessional Program, EL Licensing Program, the Career Coaching work, and the emerging Computer Science Program will be highlighted.

Global Education Initiatives

Join the CELL faculty and school partners in a discussion about implementation science’s role within school change. Learn how active implementation frameworks sustain educational initiatives and partnerships, enhance support for teachers and drive data collection, analysis and use.

Through a state personnel development grant, the Indiana Center on Teacher Quality at CELL has partnered with seven rural districts to enact Universal Design for Learning and Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports using implementation science to ensure quality administration and sustainability. Presenters will highlight the implementation lessons they learned from this grant work, now entering its final full year.
