Advancing IU's Plan 2030 Goals

The five strategies consider three contextts relevant to the IU 2030 Strategic Plans and key state-wide initiatives:

Current and emerging issues across the Indiana P-12 ecosystem
State workforce trends and objectives
Alignment with state college-going objectives

Strategy #5: Strengthening Institution-wide coordination of P-12 engagement across campuses

IU's Office of School Partnerships is providing cohesion, visibility, and support for these strategies and P-12 initiatives across IU's campuses and represent IU with P-12 policy leaders. We serve as a centralized hub for reporting, collaboration, innovation, and resource sharing, overseeing centralized data strategies that monitor the impact of P-12 engagement.

P-12 Education Summit

In August of 2024, over 200 education leaders from across Indiana gathered in Indianapolis at the P-12 Education Summit to renew connections and shape the future of education.

The Summit focused on enhancing partnerships that are mutually beneficial, community-centered, reciprocal, and sustainable over time and across various contexts. The conference succeeded in creating a central space for ongoing collaboration and resource sharing among IU's campuses and their P-12 partners.

Through leadership panels, breakout sessions, and dynamic discussions, the annual event featured cutting-edge initiatives aligning with IU's 2030 vision. For example:

Coalition-based sessions featuring models like the New Neighbors Education Center and the Community Education Coalition demonstrated how IU campuses work hand-in-hand with local communities to address specific educational needs.
IU Kokomo spotlighted innovations in educator preparation, such as such as Tomorrow’s Teachers and the Teacher Residency Program, underscoring IU’s role in maintaining a robust pipeline of well-prepared educators ready to meet P-12 education challenges.
Advancing educational equity was a focal point, and Ellen Szarleta, director of the IU Northwest Center for Urban and Regional Excellence, led a panel on the active engagement of underrepresented and marginalized students.
